Are there any small catfish that are tolerant of lower temps and would survive in a pond? My pond is about 50" in diameter...

Bullhead catfish.

Chad

yah bull heads thats about it mabye brown or yellow black get the biggest

Yeah I would go with a bullhead too. I have a breeding pair of Yellow Bullheads in a 700 gallon pond with some turtles and Fathead minnows. I caught mine in a stream near my house.

I have 2 small spotted bullheads out in our pond. And they did fine over the winter in it. Then again I live in Florida.

ADD: as for the active, mine are during the warmer times. When its cold, they stay on the bottem and what not.

Mine are active when it's warm too. I live in PA so when it gets cold I don't see them that much. They do come out when it's feeding time and they love any type of koi food, worms, prawns or dough balls.
