I don't know much about African catfishes, does anyone know of species from Africa that are plant friendly and would go with Congo tetras.

My tank is 190 gallons.
Sand substrate, driftwoods and lots of Anubias and java ferns.

What's your pH? Most Synodontis species should do fine in those conditions, S eupterus does good in a wide range of conditions.

Giraffes are my favorite African cat but synodontis would work better long term

http://www.fishbase.org/identification/RegionSpeciesList.php?showAll=yes&e_code=6&SortBy=family Lots to choose from if u want to stick with the congo theme. Not sure what the fish selection is like in norway but here is a list of species in the congo.

upside down catfish are from African lakes, or you can go with a Featherfin catfish.

dwarf giraffe cat max size 7.9 inch
or something from the Chrysichthys genus

If considering dwarf giraffe cats, size depends on the genus, notoglanidium (formerly anaspidoglanis) species will only grow to around 7"or 8" but most parauchenoglanis species will grow to 17" or so. All are omnivorous bottom feeders by nature but will eat very small fish if they can but are not really considered predators and do fine on pellets and worms.
