So interestingly as I been looking for cool exotic catfishes to add to my collection. I noticed that....there is literally zero existence of hybrid catfishes out there. Besides from the shovelnose/redtail hybrid and the synodontis catfish, is there any other hybrid catfishes out there? or is that just it?

There are others but hybrids of inter-genus species or inter-family species are rarely viable, perhaps 1 out of 1,000-10,000 attempted combinations... or so the efforts of catfish farmers show.

Synodontis are bred with synodontis, so their rate of viable hybrids is high but they are not bred for food but for tricking ignorant fish keepers, who don't care if they keep "plastic" fish or real fish.

Intra-genus successful hybrids involve Ictaluridae (channel x blue) and Pseudoplatystoma (corruscans x punctifer) as examples.

A viable hybrid is Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum (mother) x Leiarius marmoratus (father) marketed as "Spotted tiger shovelnose"... aka TSNxLei hybrid.

Barely viable hybrids that MFK-ers keep involve

ParoonxRTC
TSNxLeiarius
RTCxLeiarius
LSN (lima shovelnose) x RTC

Never seen or heard of a tigrinis x red tail.Bet that's a sight especially one with some size. Same for channel x black bullhead
I only know of one batch of Tigrinus x redtail,I believe it was bred in either 2007 or 2005,the channel x bullheads are usually bred for commercial fish farms.

Hearsay or can you fetch a link to read more on this? I've never heard of this one.

I seen pics of RTCxLeiarius hybrids and videos. But I never see them on sale.

MFK-ers appear to have kept about a dozen or a few dozen of these. Perhaps only a few were raised to (sub)adulthood. They are not viable and tend to perish for unknown reason.

I think I misspoke earlier. It is not RTCxLei but LeixRTC (mother must be listed first; the fish biology is dominated by the mother genes)

Same for TSNxLei in the bottom list. It should be LeixTSN. TSNxLei is a viable and commercially developed food hybrid.

A pic was posted a few years ago of tigrinus x redtail(I believe it was on this site),but I could never find any online,I think they were all in Asia tho.

I learn something new everyday. But dang, it mostly seems like strains are viable with the redtail or the shovelnose. I don't count the channel and blue hybrid though for they are use as commercial food hybrid and I prefer the channel over the hybrid.
