I found a couple of these guys at a LFS. They look a lot like giraffe nose catfish but their patterns seem to be off to me. Maybe a slightly smaller head as well, though not sure if that's a man age thing or species thing.

Any thoughts?

Someone said it is a Auchenoglanis ngamensis aka big mouth spiny catfish. I think they are correct.

Anyone have any experience with these guys?

Boy they all look pretty similar. Going to have to look really hard. Anyway you cut it something different.

Im gonna side with thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter on this one... my guess/i.d. is the Parauchenoglanis punctatus. Planet catfish shows a "day" and "night" pattern pic that seems to match up with the 1st set of dark pics u took and the newer pics lights on. Very cool find o.p.! Should max out at 16" if my i.d. is correct. "dwarf giraffe" is Notoglanidium Macrostoma, id say u can rule that out all together based on its max size being 7.9", urs appear larger already. That would also rule out another close canidate P. guttatus...
