Hey all, I just caught this little 2 incher from a local creek, I was wondering what he is, I'm guessing he's either a madtom or bullhead.
Sorry for the low quality pics.

looks like a spotted bull head to me, the two whiskers on the front of its head is where the fish gets its name from, like horns on a bull

It is a bullhead, what species I'm not exactly sure (probably spotted). The best way to tell madtoms from bullheads is by looking at the adipose fin which is fused in madtoms and not bullheads.

nice bullhead

How long till he gets accostomed to his tank? It's a little 7 gallon quarantine tank. He'll be in there for bout 2 weeks incase he has parasites, then he'll go in a 20 long. I've never kept bullheads before, mostly cause there arn't very many where I live, care info will be appreciated. Such as water parameters, temp, food, tank size, etc.

I've kept mine between 74-78 and he/she does fine. They will eat anything, and i think they need some vegetable matter, mine likes algae wafers every so often. He went from about 3" to 6" in a couple months. I think they get up to a foot though so beware. He does prefer to have his own private cave which he will stay in until food comes. Good luck though this is one of my favorite fish, and they really start looking good!
