gut feeling channel cat caught hundreds as a child but a little dark in color only other idea hoplos
not correcting but im 100% bullheads all have full tail second picture is showing a fork in tail.
not a bullhead. fins are differently shaped and it's got an overbite, which bullheads dont have.
I'm thinking along the lines of the genus Chrysichthys but I could be mistaken.

No problem, check the cat-elog on planetcatfish.com, look in the family claroteidae for genus chrysichthys, species in the genus can be tough to i.d. but im leaning toward chrysichthys nigrodigitatus.
