i know pics. trying to get pics, he keeps hiding in the tank so i can't get pics in there. i tried taking him out to take pics but he just turns black and you can' t tell what the hell he is. he is about 1 1/2" long, brownish in color with black spots all over him. on all of his fins they have a white outline. i have had him for 7 months with no growth. could ya just give some ideas so i can look up some specimen pics. please help.

its a synodontis of some sort. It looks really familiar, but i cant quite put a name on it.
 
Could be:

Synodontis petricola
Synodontis tanganyicae
Synodontis multipunctatus
Synodontis grandiops

Only based on coloration. These fish have similar coloration. So they are someplace to start, other than that work on better pictures.
 
****synodontis polli**** i went and googled it and started reading all that info they give. the s. polli has the white on all fins but the wide mouth. upon further investigation(me running back and forth from the tank to the comp and a hubble lite) i have a positive ID on the fish. Thanks to you guys. I RRRREEEEAAAALLLLYYYY appreciate it.
 
I knew i was missing one on my list. Damn. must have skipped over it when i was copying and pasting the other fish. but i am glad you got it identified
