it's definately a pimelodid of some sort but not a vallianti imo looks nice though and but if turns out to be vallianti brachy's should have long streamers as for growth rate 2 or 3 inches month at most is typical ime i've kept all other species in this genus but never vallianti so just going off of what i've read and been told
It does not strike me as a Brachyplatystoma. The body proportions, the snout is too narrow, the eyes too big. I am tilting towards either a Pimelodus or Iheringichthys.
Well here is some more info. It is not growing very fast and the cat has a deep fork in the tail with about an inch extension on the upper fork. The upper fork extends past the lower fork as well. No streamers!
