This was labeled on the tank as brachyplatystoma sp. ... sorry couldn't get a pic of its face.. looks like a Pariba kinda..can't find a similar one with a black spot on the fin

This is an Asian shovelnose...from the genus Sperata. Not sure which species, but that adipose spot is a dead giveaway.

Looks like Sperata acicularis. Sperata aor more silver. Very fast growers, 3"ish in 40 days.

Agree with the Sperata. Not sure between aor or acicularis as the base color can be a function of many things. But in any event, this is a 10x cheaper fish versus any Brachy, if memory serves.
