Hey guys it’s been awhile. But I see these catfish in our pond. And I found one today, dead. And it seems to have choked on another fish. It looks to be some kind of bullhead. But any other thoughts would be great.

It's a bullhead. Likely brown. The photo is not species-ID friendly.

Hi Kolton! Long time no see. Looks like a brown bullhead, but it’s tough to see with the bloated belly. Any chance you could get a face shot? Could you cut open the stomach…like filleting a fish.

I threw that thing back lol. Fed it to the huge snappers we got. Yeah it has been awhile lol. Been really busy over here with the new house and such

I went outside for a bit today and caught a few. Caught a pretty big one too. Maybe this will help ID them

The big is so bad on the top. But he was like 10 inches I’d say.

If the chin barbels were white or light colored, it'd be easy - a yellow bullhead.

It is harder to tell between brown and black but the difference is known.

IIRC one difference involves the presence or lack of serrations on the back of the pectoral spines.
