Hello,
I see lots of pictures of beautiful tanks and beautiful cats on here that I hope someday I will own.
I had one little question though (since I am a catfish keeper myself).

Why do some people keep catfish with no hiding spots? Is it to make them more active? I know with my cats that they love to hide. I am taking about my 4 line pims right now.
They are certainly more active when I am doing maintenance and their 3.5 foot cave is not in the tank anymore, but does this have any negative side effects? Will it stress them out?
I do like it when I see them swimming all around, but fishkeeping is more about making the fish happy in my mind, but if it causes no issues, I would love to have just a more open tank.

Thanks

I keep hides for my cats when they are smaller, but once they get to a certain size I like seeing them more often than not, so I remove them. By this point they are much more confident and less skittish as compared to them as 1.5-3" juvies.

Catfish from the Pim family are naturally skittish fish, they never grow out of it much like Paroon/Id Sharks. Unike RTC's. TSN's and the like, which grow much larger, robust, and are in general not very skittish fish.

I like to see my tig. Simple.

I think if water q is good and correct tank mates are added, this will alleviate stress, and this is more important than a hiding place.
