Why is it that my G cat is always going to the top of the tank and slurping at the surface? It's really annoying, being next to the bed, and I have no clue why he does it. I was thinkin of rigging up some egg crate at the top so he can't get there, and building a canopy to cover it, but don't want too if it's beneficial to him. What the hail is it doing?!

Could just be his personality, i had an albino channel cat who would pick up the gravel in the tank in the middle of the night and spit it at the glass making loud cracking noises, would wake me up and scare the crap out of me. some fish just do things

Well I have an fx5 pointed to where it makes good surface agitation, and the water quality is fine. I'll turn the outlets up more to see if that helps, not a fan of the air bubble thing. Thanks
Yeah i have had best results with my tank by pointing the outlets (both upwards till it actually becomes noisy i dont know if this is gona help with your sleep may be a super quiet air pump and airstone is the answersick_lid;3501021; said:
yea you can find airstones fairly cheap and if you dont crank em up all the way the bubbles breaking the surface arent all that noisy, if its the look of it that your worried about, put it closer to the surface so u cnt really see it yet it still disturbing the water.
