The Wet Spot carries Phalacronotus apogon, the "Blue Neon Sheathfish" which is pretty similar, but maybe not as chunky.

If the look of the Silurus glanis is what you're after, Silurus glanis is only one of 13 species within the genus. There are species that resemble the giant glanis but only range from 8.5"-46" in adult length.

Hey Oddball, Fwprawn has a good question. Which ones have you seen on MFK or other places and how many of them have you seen?

On the larger end, are you referring to the species like biwaensis (from Japan), asotus (Far East), aristotelis (Greece)? Have you ever seen these reliably ID'ed and kept by hobbyists?

But, only the S. glanis is the one that is really obtainable, right ?

Looks like a Wallago to me.

As far as I personally know that's correct, though OddBall may know different and more accurately than I. Only person who might carry one of the Silurus other than Glanis would be Wes from time to time. I think OddBall may have been talking more about the rest of the family Siluridae than other Silurus specifically. I've personally kept Ompok bimaculatus and in my opinion they're a pretty good alternative to Glanis as a more manageable and easier to obtain member of the family and could be one of the possible alternatives OddBall was hinting at.
