i recently bought out somebodys fish tank and aquired an awesome 14" Lima Shovelnose. i thought the cat would be ok with my all my gar so i placed it in the 180. in the morning i found the lima with very baddly damaged fins and a few body scrapes. i have since moved the cat to my tank that houses my 15" silver aro and a few severums...very calm tank. anyway my question is...what treatments are catfish friendly? i have heard that salt and most meds are not a good idea to use on a catfish. any suggestions?

thanks in advance,

Salt is ok with cats, just don't full dose as most cats are more sensitive to meds because they are scaleless, Half dosing is usually a good idea for catfish, depending on the wounds some melafix would prob be in order though... although it is possible that nothing is needed but warm peacefull water where he's not stressed. Any Pics of the damage?

no pics, but it's just your typical shredded fins. i'm not overly concerned, but wanted to see if i could aid the healing process any. thanks for the input.

best aid to shredded fins is simply good water params and a stress free enviornment ;)

this is pretty much what ive been doing. i also added a little bit of salt.

Here are some pics of when he was in with the gar.
