i was thinking of catfishing for flathead and blue catfish on the colorado river either near yuma or havasu and i was wondering would a uglystick with 35 pound test with live bait work?

too heavy of line, go for max 20lb (youll get more distance and more of a fight) and ugly sticks would be fine.
depends on what your fishing for. 35lb will work fine. Blues dont put up much of a fight, but can get huge. smaller flatheads can bend the same rod over twice as far. Give it a try.
i use to live in moab ut on the colorado and good luck cat-fishing with a bottom rig using day old chicken livers.
