Hi to all MFK'S

I am extremely intersted in both rays in which I own a 12 inch Motoro, but she eats alot of worms, in paricular the insides of them meaning that there are ALOT of the carcasus remaining.

I am a great admirer of Cats and inparticular RTC's!! So can I place an RTC or any other Cat in with my ray??

(My tank is 900 uk L, so i have the space and my upgrade is 1800+)

Many thanks

I've see alot of pictures and videos with other catfish in with rays. So I would say it shouldn't be a problem. You would have to watch the size of the RTC though, because they will eat you ray if it'll fit in its mouth.

Tiginirus' look really nice. I stuck my stripped raphael catfish (lame I know) in with my 10'' motoro, they get along fine.

I am playing with the same idea but I am thinking I am going to go with a Giraffe Catfish a lot more laid back than RTC anyone see anyprobles with this?

I've never heard of problems between big cats and rays before.

the problem with something massive like a rtc is they will out compete for food, hard to get food to your rays. Also they eat so much you have to be careful to not spoil your water.

also make sure the cat cannot eat the ray!

Yeah, I do not think directly the RTC would be a problem as far as harming the ray, but it will def eat everything way before the ray even has a chance at it.

My RTC was around 24" before I took it out of the tank with my 12-14" rays. I never had a problem really, because the rtc was in there since it was around 6". However, he grew from 2" to 24" in about 7 months.

I had to constantly overfeed my tank to keep everyone happy. The RTC was like a vacuum, would even swim under the rays to get at what they were eating.

Sooner or later the rtc is going to get huge, and thats when I'd start worrying.

I'd go with a shovelnose type catfish over an rtc, however, my TSN also outcompeted my rays for food.

The niger that is in with them now is far calmer at dinner time. He is far less aggressive and a slower eater.

There are feeding videos in my signature if you want to see what happened at feeding time.

RTC is a No, No...way too big to house anyway and they will eat the Rays.

Giraffe Cats are known to harass the rays as they get bigger.

I would stick to a Tig and nothing bigger and if you decide to keep a tig then make sure you do your research (do not overfeed and get the water quality right)
