For a few days now when I get home from work I've noticed bits of scraps from my wormery strewn around the back of the garden. I've been scalding the dog thinking that she was the culprit being the greedy beggar that she is.

But no, today I caught the true miscreant redhanded. Perched on the edge of the wormery was a flipping magpie poking about picking bits out and launching them on the grass. I ran for my camera by which time it had jumped onto the grass with a piece of corn on the cob. See pic below.

Lol, poor dog.

Better apologize to the dog lol. Give it a nice treat.
The way I see it, you have 2 options with the bird. Keep it as a pet, or release the cat.

Don't get me wrong, i love magpies, they're a beautiful bird, one of my favourites. But its opportunistic nature could well be it's downfall because that mad cat of mine will have it in a heartbeat.

Rather than just throw the scraps on top of the wormery i think it would be best for the magpie if i buried them a bit. The dog won't be getting an apology, it's still in the bad books for nicking some barbecued chicken off my plate the other day, lol.

I always enjoy an esoxlucius esoxlucius post; it usually displays a quaint British charm that I find refreshing. Who but a Brit would have a "wormery"? Who but a Brit would hunt down "miscreants"?

Now, I must admit...I was a little put off by the use of "scalding" to discipline the dog :nono:. Seems a bit harsh...but, who am I to judge? :)

Scolding would have been too much of a let off, lol.

The ironic thing is though i'd just put my plate down momentarily whilst I went in the kitchen to get a cloth for my greasy fingers. On the way there, whilst my son was distracted blowing some monsters up on his tablet, I nicked a couple of chips off his plate, chuckling to myself as I went to the kitchen.

And when I returned my plate seemed a little lighter in content shall we say. The thing than got me the most though, the damn dog had took my chicken and left ALL of my crappy green beans, which I'm not a great fan of!

I've magpies nicking stuff out of my wormery, dogs nicking stuff off my plate, kids emptying my wallet and a missus who won't let me have anymore big tanks!

This quaint British guy is a bit miffed, lol.
