Went fishing in a canal out by my house here in south Florida and I dragged in a net full of 2 inch transparent shrimps. Needless to say, I'd like to keep these and possibly try to breed them and raise my own fishie snacks. First, should I be aware of any dangers? I'm probably going to set up a small 30 gallon outdoor mini pond for these guys so they won't be going directly to the tank. Second, I don't have a picture but they honestly look like a giant ghost shrimp like what you would get at PetSmart, any idea what they are?

they are probably ghost shrimp i believe they spawn in florida. they could also be normal tablefare shrimp depending on where you caught them.

I would put them in a q tank first, and be aware of the local water conditions (pesticides etc). I catch ghost shrimp up in Jax and feed them to my fish without any problems

That's a great idea, just feed em good and make 'em healthy before ya use 'em as feeders.

I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I'll start up the mini pond first and throw them in there for a few months and see what how they do, then they can be fish snacks haha. I get ghost shrimp from the store about once a month, the fish like 'hunting' for them and I don't like feeder fish.
