Caught this on the road in front of my house.

Driving in front of my house and I thought wow that looks like a turtle. So I stopped and backed up and it was. He is pretty scared right now. What should I feed him. Probably about 6 inches so a pretty big Red Ear Slider I believe.

Would like to keep him in my goldfish pond in my flower bed. What should I do to keep him from escaping. Any ideas? Or should I just take him out and put him in the big farm pond and wish him well?

It's a painted turtle who was probably on her way to lay eggs. I'd let her go if I were you.

Agreed, release her somewhere away from the road near a source of water. And do it quickly, If she was going to lay eggs, they might become impacted if she doesn't get the chance.

I'm glad I don't live somewhere where there are lots of turtles in lakes, I hear you see them as road kill quite often.
