i am going to stock my 55 gallon soon, but the only thing in there now is gravel. anyone have any plans for making caves or hiding places. dont have too much money for these.

The best i have seen for your money has to be clay plant pots, turn them on there side and you have a instant cave. there only $1.25 or so a peice.

you can use pvc pipes and joints also. Those don't cost too much

i like the clay pot idea do you think i could stack them? i was thinking maybe 5 or 6 5 inch pots in the 55 and some gravel and something else. i just dont want it to be plain

Make sure they are fully glazed or they'll fall apart and screw up you water. If you find some you just have to use , paint them...Krylon brand paint

To stack figure out your arrangement and just silicone them together. They work great.

PVC fittings can be painted...Krylon brand for plastics paint

A little more expensive, there are black rubber fittings like the PVC but flexible.

How big of fish? Find some thick driftwood and bore / carve holes in it.

i made thease caves with just some rock from a landscaping place and some tank sealent total money about $12:grinyes:

i haven't used them yet because i haven't got my 55 gallon tank. but i'm going to try them in my ten gallon tank without the tubes.
about algea in the tubes i haven't secured the tubes to the rocks that way i can just take them out when they need to be cleaned

when you buy clay pots do they say fully glazed? if not how do you tell if they are or not? im actually looking for some small ones for some bolivian rams in my 20 gallon too.
