My lfs has imported a batch of CB Polypterus Bichir Bichir around 4-5". They are really rare in the UK, are these CB ones getting more common? This batch imported is quite expensive £110 each.

Certainly not common over here in the U.S. (yet to see a batch in). Also I'm sure as more flood the market, the price, and quality of the fish will come down. However I would advise you make sure they are in fact CB PBB and not laps.

+1 I"m relatively new to polypterus but from what I've seen in LFS they're very commonly mislabeled. Also I've seen several websites that use Bichir Bichir as a sort of umbrella label; I've seen it applied to lapradei, endlicheri, and senegalus. Take a quick pick if you can, the pros on here will have no trouble with and ID. It's worth being sure if you're going to drop that sort of cash

Actually the pros are not much help on this one ..... Pbb under 14-16" r nearly impossible to tell apart from laps .... And not to rain on ur parade or anything but I'm willing to bet a grand that those r not going to be pbb but laps

Don't think pure pbb have been done. If they have it would of been Kamihata jp way back cuz they had a nice batch. Not sure if it was 100% mom and dad were PBB. If possible, i'd just get the Chad PBB that everyone has.

Here's a pic of a wc and cb side by side. There's a difference.
