My new weeksii is coming tomorrow, I know many bichirs in this hobby are mainly CB in southeast Asia(Indonesia, Malaysia, SGP..), as endli, delhzi, ornate, senegal, congicus, etc.. But imo I think weeksii are WC bichir, am I right or wrong?:screwy:

As far as I know they are wild caught as of now-Anne

:iagree: as for farming bichirs in southeast asia, i know about indonesia. didn't know about malaysia or singapore...are you sure? just curious...thats all :)

yep all wilds there isn't any record of captive breeding of weeksiis

Well...I am not sure:D guess I was just blah blah

I've never read an account of their having been captive bred, though the japanese certainly seem to be among the front runners in breeding bichirs.

They are never brought in around here unless on special order. The one time I found one in Saskatoon, (labeled as a del) was 2 hours after some ^%$^%#% kids had dumped bleach into his tank. He didn't survive :irked:

Please post pics when yours arrives!

nope.
none have been captive bred thus far.
are congicus bred in captivity?
other than japan that is.
i can't confirm whether congicus is being captive bred or not. And if it is, i can't quite figure out if it's japan or indonesia.

Reason i think it may not be japan is because 1) i've only seen several juvy congicus on japanese vendor sites. if they're bred in japan, i'd think they'd be flooding the sites. and 2) there's no mention of whether the juvies are wild caught or CB (although their sizes are smaller than the typical smallest WC), but one site put 'jakarta' as the source, which would suggest indonesia...but its just one site, so who knows...

i see.
but if they put jarkarta as the source,im guessing indonesia has definitly bred them before?
otherwise, they would have been from africa instead?
