I'm not starting a project or anything but the last couple weeks every couple days my group of 7 rainbows is spawning in a bed of java moss. I have the ph in the upper 7's with higher ammonia than I'd like only in that it is detectable and feed NLS community and shrimp pellets with half of a algae wafer. The first spawn happened after a 40 percent water change with cooler water probably dropping the tank temp 2 degrees or so. I don't expect anything to come from this as black worms are in that java moss and most likely are eating all the eggs after dark, and if they don't then the ghost shrimp will find them but still its quite amazing for me. I've never had rainbows spawn before. Here is the tank.
Those are older pictures but its still a very young tank. Major difference is the lilly pads have sprouted and taken over.
The display is amazing and entails the males rigorously competing and chasing each other till one backs down then the winner approaches and coaxes the female to the spawning location. It typically starts off as a pair spawning then rapidly becomes a group spawn with all the other males and females participating. I've seen 2 so far in as many weeks.
Sorry for no pics of the fish the glass is etched by what was probably acid as that is what the previous tank owner used to clean his tanks. As such the tank glass always has a cloudy look to it.
