Since MFK is attracting a global membership base, I thought I would ask a few questions about the area you are from.
First a little information about the 4th of July.
The real name of the holiday is Independence Day. No, I'm not talking about the movie by the same name staring Will Smith even though he helped save the world by destroying the alien invasion on July 4th.
Independence day is thought of as the birthday of the United States becoming a free and independent nation with the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
Depending on where you live in the USA, the 4th of July may be celebtated with different activities such as picnics, parades, concerts and fireworks.
As I was growing up, my family had its share of Family Circle get togethers which would always culminate with the lighting of the fireworks and spelling your name in the air with a sparkler. Oh yes, there was the time when a family member had his hair catch fire when a flame ball from a Roman candle landed on his head
. We didn't have Americas Funniest Videos back then.Over the years various county regulations were passed where I live and now we can only have sparklers on our own property. There are many public 4th of July celebrations a person can go to with the evening events ending in a huge fireworks show.
How is the 4th of July celebrated where you live?
What will you be doing this 4th of July?
If you aren't in the United States, do you celebrate a holiday which may be similar?
