No
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes
What percentage of water do you change?
31-40%
How frequently do you change your water?

If I do not change my water...

If you leave the parents in the tank with the fry they will eat the fry so you will have to move the parents once they've spawned to another tank. If the parents stay in the tank with the fry you will never get them to bump up their numbers. Also I highly recommend that you have live food in the tank for the fry when they hatch. If they don't have a small enough live food source to eat they will starve and die out. I recommend whatching this video on how to breed neon tetras, yes ik they aren't the same fish but very similar methods used none the less.

oh thanks!!!! i will definitely watch this now. but i did separate them i have a fry trap that i put the spawning mop in so the eggs would hatch and live inside of the box that the parents couldnt get into... also anything with the bump?

oh also what other veggies could i use to culture infusoria?? i dont have broccoli but i do have zucchini i have peppers, celery tomatos, lettuce

Fry can sometimes escape fry traps depending on size. Lettuce is a good one for infusoria :D

From the photos your female looks gravid with eggs, nothing wrong there.

oh they could totally get out of it do u think thats what happened? inside of the fry trap i put so many hiding spots with a spawning mop that they shoulda felt safe in why would they just leave

Fish like swimming around. A tried and tested method is to put the adults in a seperate tank with a mop for a few days, and the day before the first eggs start hatching (say eggs take four days to hatch as an example, you take the adults out on day 3) and then you have the fry in their own tank free from predation :D

No clue exactly how long it takes that specie to hatch but I would imagine it wouldn't be too dissimilar from neons. You can always pull the parents out early as soon as they have spawned to completely eliminate the predation risk. As for the mark on the side of the one in the pic it looks like it had ich at one point in it's life and recovered from it but was left with a scar. It could also be from another fish picking on it in a previous tank it had been in.

Is it something brand new that showed up or was it bought like that already?
