I picked up a dozen of these guys at my LFS yesterday... $2.50 each. They are beautiful looking fish, and will look even better once they fatten up. Didn't realize they were so small :D

I have them in a 20g with a lot of java moss, java fern, pennywort, etc. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on getting these fish to breed?

seperate males an females into different tanks, throw a trio one male and two females in a breeding tank with java moss when females lay eggs remove trio
raise young

Where I am, aquarium prices are crazy... well, compared to people in the U.S. anyways. I am in a small city in northern Ontario, so there isn't the population like in Toronto or other cities... hence, used and store aquarium prices are brutal.

On the other hand, my LFS sells his fish at amazing prices. Congo tetras are half the price of anywhere else, I got my Scarlet Badis for $3 each, plants are real cheap, etc. Not the best assortment, but he brings in uncommon fish and doesn't mark them up a lot.

$8.50 is crazy!!! They are nice fish, but they are tiny and you want a big school... at that price I'd be dropping over $100 for a little group :eek:
 
Ive got a group of 7 Im going to be breeding within the next month or so. They were 6.99 each here or $13/2 but the people at the lfs know me so I got my 7 for $20.
 
cpd are sooooo pretty. In California I've seen a place that was about 3-4 dollars each so not too bad.
