I read alot of pond liners or plywood tank coatings bond best with pourus mediums like cement/concrete.

I guess its just a matter of structural integrity. A swimming pool doesn't burst becahse the earth supports the walls. I dont know how it would work free standing

I was actually thinking about just taking an old 55g and basically incasing it in cement or self-Harding clay(or something) to give it that look. Thought it would be an easy mimic and a pleasant addition to the patio.
