One side of the brace is still connected, the other side is about 3/4 a cm from the tank. I emptied out 25% of the tank water, any advice on what I should do?
The tank is glass but the brace is plastic
I emptied about 35% of the water the middle is only bowing out about 3/16". I have wood glue http://www.homaxproducts.com/products/Leadcheck/01/index.html but it says that it's not recommended for fish tanks. Would it work/would it be safe if the top of the brace doesn't touch the water much?
I would look into getting some plastic cement or epoxy to fix it. I dont think the wood glue will hold the two smooth surfaces together under any pressure. I have a 55g holding tank that has the eurobrace completely missing. Its been set up for about a year without problems.
same thing happened to me a while ago, i just used aquarium silicon, i lowered the tank as much as i could to keep the filters running and enough water for the fish, and just VERY VERY VERY carefully siliconed it together and clamped it, waited two days for it to cure, and there ya go, everything was fine again, still have that tank running
i would silicone a piece of scrap plastic, or glass, or whatever to the underside of the broken brace, and clamp it together until dry. Or just order a new top frame from glasscages.com
most lfs stores can get frames for like 15 bucks, and they are so easy to change theres no reason to risk your tank busting. Last time I changed a frame it literally took me 20 minutes short of the cure time. Hit me up if you need any advise.
