I bought a CL 150g, with a broken center brace. The previous owner said it had been broken for years and he never had any trouble. I filled it, and ended up with this gap. Is that something to worry about? Is there a cheap DIY repair? I don't really have the urge to cut the top frame off and re-silicone a new one on.

depends my friend took 2 square pieces of metal on either side of the glass and ran a bolt with locking washers to tighten them together.. its still holding with out a problem. just a pain to put one 4ft light across the tank.

I'm thinking of taking 2 metal L brackets, and screwing them together in the middle. The tank is going in the wall, so the top won't be visible. think that would hold?

I did this repair on a 220G tank and it lasted for years. I used one of these "L" brackets

And bolted it to the tank like this

Just bolt through the brace where the red dots are and cut off below the line so the viewing window is unobstructed. Sorry I didnt have an "L" bracket around to show you all proper.
