About 2 weeks ago I upgraded my 10g tank to a 36g bowfront. It has 4 black skirt tetras, 4 neon tetras, 2 cory cats, a bunch of guppies, 3 mollies, 4 small clown loaches, and a small clown pleco. I really want to add something larger in that will draw attention and won't eat my other fish. Any suggestions?

i think youre pretty much full. When the loaches get bigger you will need a much larger tank.

lol, was all that stock in ur 10g? :grinno:

u sound like u might already be overstocked if u go by the 1" rule and will need to upgrade again as the clowns and pleco grow. So unless u plan on dumping a bunch of ur fish at an LFS or a buddy, I wouldn't recommend a larger centerpiece fish

You are over stocked even without the loaches.

Whiteboi is right that using the very liberal inch per gallon rule, you are currently overstocked.

I wouldnt be adding anymore fish. I hope you have very good filtration because your bio load is big. I also hope you get a longer tank for those clowns (eventually) and install a power head in the lower region of the tank so they can have a strong/medium current to swim against.

Im not trying to be mean, just saying, you are asking for trouble.

The loaches are stunted. I got the from a friend whose mom had all 4 in a little 3 gallon desk set up. They were in there for about a year. Right now they are about 2-3 inches long, and I don't expect them to get much bigger. Also, the guppies are getting moved as soon as their tank is cycled.

Maybe an blue or gold gourami but I'd watch those loaches, they might get bigger with the extra room they've been given, and maybe consider taking away either all the guppies or the mollies to ease up on the bioload.

Clown loaches grow slowwww but be prepared for an upgrade if your keeping them. They will grow more I assure you. It may not seem like it but it will happen. Gourami's can be awful. I had a gold that beat on three oscars that were slightly bigger. Blues sometimes suck eyes but are better than golds. I don't recommend either. A dwarf gourami would be ok though. I think maybe a german ram or apistos would work. An african butterfly fish would be cool and don't take alot of space but the neons would be feasted on.
