I am setting up a small fish room and have a question on setting up my central air system. I know many use the rigid PVC pipes connected to their air pump, but can you use braided flexible PVC tubing instead? I would make a single loop but use 3 large manifolds vs tapping into the tubing directly.

Thanks.

I don't see why you couldn't use braided flexible PVC hose to hook up to the air pump, I myself just use vinyl hose or a scrap length of Eheim hose I had laying around. You definitely don't want to use PVC pipe at the air pump as it will amplify any vibration noise.

It was recommended to me that any manifolds used be tapped back into the main PVC air pipe so it is a continuous loop with no dead ends.

I was going to use the braided flexible PVC tubing in lieu of the rigid PVC tubes/elbows/connectors. The pump I am getting comes with a vinyl PVC flexible tube hookup.

I have looked at a lot of the fishroom set ups videos, and everyone seems to just use the rigid PVC vs the flexible PVC tubing. I can see the benefits of the rigid PVC with adding additional valves in the future-but my fishroom is more me enjoying a variety of fish vs breeding and selling, so I won't be adding additional tanks in the future. Of course I will have a couple tubs for breeding, but 90% of the tanks will be display.

Rachael O' Leary was the only one who said you can use the braided PVC tubing or the rigid PVC piping and a light bulb went off-but I can't seem to find anyone who actually sets up their air system with the flexible tubing.

I doubt you even need braided PVC tubing, you're not looking at much more than like 1 PSI (.4PSI per foot of water depth)

I think most people use the rigid PVC as it is probably cheaper than the braided flexible PVC hose.
