Picked up a couple of new fish recently, the most recent being 2 Swordspine Snook's/Centropomus ensiferus. Unfortunately one died shortly after arrival and the other was in a bad way upon arrival. I added some Stress Coat and salt to the aquarium and luckily he seems to have recovered completely in the quarantine tank. I've got to say I'm really liking this little guy, despite his streamlined look he's not as darty as I thought he would be. He's also quite brave and curious another two traits I'm surprised by, making taking pics of him fairly easy. Figured I'd share some pics since it seems these guys haven't been in many threads on here and I think they deserve their due.

Nice pickup, Kolt!

Sweet fish!
Thanx a lot bro! I appreciate the compliment.

Great looking snook. I'd love to find some out here. I only find the red bay snooks.

Thanx bro! These guys only come in once in awhile I don't recall seeing them too many times for sale even on here. If your willing to pay shipping Jeff Rapps(TUIC) has some in. Also just so you know these guys aren't related in anyway to the Snook your referring too which are cichlids. Just wanted it to be clear as I myself had made the same mistake and wanted to clarify in case you where doing the same.

That thing looks like i could take out some feeders in know time, is he pellet trained?

I was told he's eating shrimp and I can tell he definitely was. If you've ever had your water fouled by shrimp decay there's a definite putrid smell that was present in the water they arrived in. In order to get him eating right away I gave him feeders which he consumed at a lightning pace.

mark my words, you got lucky, that is a black snook, giant, not a sword spine, much rarer
Thanx Wes! It's funny you say that as the other Snook that perished looked completely different. It's scales where more Olive/Silvery colored the anal fin was more elongate by a considerable amount and the eyes where almost twice as large. So I'm under the impression that the one that perished may have been a Swordspine while this one is a Black. Pretty cool would've been cooler though if both individuals survived, but we've got to be happy with what we've got right. So that's what I am happy with my new Black Snook.

Nice pickup, Kolt!
Thanx J! Hopefully I'll be getting a replacement for the one that perished. I'm also looking forward to my delivery of a L-95 to go with my recent L-330 and L-152 pick ups. Been a little pleco and pred. crazy lately. Kicking myself for missing out on the Kneri that Wes had for sale for what like a whole day if that. Those guys literally flew off of Wes's shelves. Guess I need to be quicker on the draw when Siniperca's are available. Matter of fact it was me missing my Sherzeri that inspired the purchase of the Snook. I wanted a big peaceful mouth in my tank again.
