I've never owned an Eheim before. I purchased one "gently used" off of Ebay -- came with everything but the tubing and intank equipment. I kept in "dry dock" a number of months until I was able to save for and purchase an 8' acrylic aquarium. That happened just a short time ago. I ordered it from A.G.E. out of Dallas. Set it up the other day. Looks great!

There was no instruction manual with the filter. I set up the Eheim 2080. Water filled the unit once it was primed. I turned it on and it "grinded" and halted altogether. The ceramic shaft shattered. Fortunately, I had ordered a spare. I replaced it and turned it back on. The same thing happened. I'm super bummed. I guess I need someone who really knows something about these filters to take a look and see if there's something that I'm doing wrong. I'm at a loss on what to do otherwise. Frustrated.
