Has anyone bought any of these lights? and are they really worth the money that they cost?

Howdy,

Depends on what system you use them for (fresh/salt, day/night). I think they're developed for saltwater night light (lunar = moon).

excactly what they are for night lighting on salt water tanks... they are pretty cool never owned one since I only have a couple of clowns in a 20 didn't seem worth it for me no coral anenome really anything...

I am pondering buying one for my new endevor. I'm Thinking on setting up a new reef tank somewhere between a 46 gal- 75 gal Not really sure. In the past I've had 180 gal, 150 gal, 125 gal, 90 gal, 72 gal Bow front, 25 gal Tall, 12 Gal, & a 6gal reefs. This one is mainly for my children who keep asking for a new tank.

lunar lights are great for reef setups or any other setup really they give your tank i really cool look at night plus in my case my corals seem thrive under them at night (i can see my bubble coral extend its feeding tenacles all the way out, very cool)

however, i think they are grossly overpriced (single moon light units go for like 40$ and sometimes even more) when really all they are is a blue led light that probably cost about 99 cents -- the fixtures w/ the lunar lights built in are a good option b/c usually they dont cost that much more then the regular fixtures

Blue LEDs? Home project time, heheh.

I got 1 for my 150. It loks great at night. the clown loaches and tiger pleco looked cool. I put a black light on a single lamp on top my 55 and it seemed to help some of my fish breed better (as in more).
yeah they are overpriced but it all depends on you. 1 other thing is if you have or will get a canopy for your tank as the fixtures dont fit or are vintelated properly for that. So DYI would be better.
