CFS700 Aquarium Canister Filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was looking at these as well but can't find any reviews on them. They look like a good filter for the price and looks as big as an FX5. It says it flows 700gph but is only good enough for a tank up to 125g which I found strange as a FX5 flows 925 gph and is rated upto a 400g tank, I guessed it must be something to do with how the water flows through the media.

I have read reviews on the smaller cfs500 and some said the rubber seals are not very good and should be replaced. The top plastic was a bit cheap and cracked it tightened up to much.

I am running a cfs-700 and its great. I believe the 700gph is for open lines so you'll get about 350gph with media installed. I have mine on a 180g FW and it works great, I usually just run the UV over the weekends which seems enough to hold back algae. I love how quiet it is, can't hear it at all, though it is pretty tall at 24" it just fits under the tank for me [with 1" to spare].
I didn't change the o-rings yet but it probably wouldn't hurt so I am going to research some more. Its a little strange not have actual baskets for the different media but there are ways to work around it and the price is very decent, I am thinking about getting a second one. I would recommend it.

Interesting!! How long have you had it for?? I've heard of people making modification to their FX5 to work without the baskets so maybe there is an advantage, more space??!!
