i wanna get these clown ghost knives at my lfs and they are currently being feed on feeder fish like rosey's and golds. my q is should i get them they look health always swimming together. ill have my new 180gal running soon so they would go in a 55 for now. they are currently in a 3o gal right now and are about 9inches.once they hita yr old do they only grow like half the rate/ or do they keep growing 1 inch per month till 3ft?

Clown knifes and Black ghost knifes are two different fish. Do you mean the black one? Thats the Black Ghost Knife. They are beautiful and fascinating fish. I've only had mine for about a month or so and just totally love her!!

It would less risky for you to get them onto pellets and fresh or frozen meaty foods. Feeding feeders is always risky.

I myself feed frozen silverside fish instead of feeders. And live Ghost Shrimp.

I also feed frozen:
mysis shrimp, bloodworms, krill, beefheart, brine shrimp(as a treat as it isn't very nutrtious) fresh grocery store shrimp.

And for pellets:
Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, New life spectrum, Omega One shrimp pellets, Tetramin variety pellets for bottom feeders.

But they also love frozen peas and some greens too.

Not sure on keeping more than one BGK fish together. I will let others answer that for you as I've never done it but hear it can be done.

bgk can be kept together if the tank is large enough
check out aqualandpetsplus.com for tons of info on them

i mean cgk clown the one with the black spots! the lfs has tow the same size and they let me feed them whin i come in. i have tried silversides and other f/t foods but they just wont eat them but throw something that moves in there and they both take'um down right away
also one more question. i think i read somewere that the black spots is a way u can tell the sex? not positive on this. but one of the clowns have 9 spots and the other has 6 spots. any one know about this?

As far as i know spots are not an indication of sex..and you would have to wean your fish onto pellets and other non live food.. it takes a while to accomplish this.. when you first get him home i would feed what he is used to eating..after he gets use to the tank and has no stress and is eating great start cutting him back and letting him get hungary and offer him pellets and frozen foods etc... sooner or later he will take to it but it takes time and patience not an over night fix.
