Hello people,
well i just got my SH a new tank cost me about $50US, hopefully it'll be his home for the next year or so. Until i finish university come back home and get a MONSTER tank or best case scenario i can build my self a pond. . But here it is for now.
Here's just a shot of my tank just after i brought it home. Nice huh? I am always terrified of moving fish tanks around coz i had a nasty accident awhile ago involving my fish tank breaking and cutting off the top of my thumb and cutting my thumb open severing several nerves. *shudder*
It took me AGES to fill up the tank. Thank god i have access to a hose thats on my roof. I would HATE to fill up the tank bucket by bucket.
This is whats in the middle of the tank. I tried to keep the amount of gravel i use to a minimum so its easier for me to clean. In my old tank my SH kept uprooting the plants so, in order for the plants to stay in place, i used some sowing thread to attach the roots of the plants to the rock.
It took me awhile to tie all the plants to the rock. Here's a close up of what i mean by using string to attach the plant to the rock
I got some background for the tank today. I didn't want anything cheesie like rocks or plants or some weird sh*t like that so i went with a blue to black fade .Don't think you can really see it in the pic. Anyways here she is in all her glory:
My snakehead's doing well. When i was draining out the old tank he started FLIPPING out
and cut himself, had one scale hanging off for a bit. but thats all good now. He's still kinda scared and not really eating like he should be but hopefully in time that will change. I've left him a lot of open space so he comes out more. Anyways here's a picture of him chilling in amongst the green:
I'm gonna try get two small crabs to put in the tank to eat all his left over food. In his old tank he was always curious when i walked in the room. When he's at rest his eyes are a dark brownish colour but when he gets excited or when i come up to the glass to look at him he'll come to the glass as well and his eyes will turn to a sharp yellow colour. I have a video of his eyes changing colour and will post it soon. As well as a video i took of him with a fish in his mouth. Not that great but the video of his eyes changing colour is pretty cool..
Well thats all folks!
