Here is the story on how i came across these sharks.

I was off-shore wreck fishing about 110 miles off shore and in 560FT of water when i got stuck. Went to go break the line and what luck i become unstuck. Slowly start reeling up but the line is very very heavy. I figured i got a part of the wreck. But what was it to my amazement when i got it to the suffice but a string of chain link catshark eggs. Though due to the rapid rate they were pulled up they looked like they didn't make it. But i took my time and went through the string and found 11 that did make it. I currently have 2 eggs in my cold water tank and the other 9 are in NJ in a much bigger cold water tank.

The eggs in my tank are currently being kept at 68F. The one's i sent to NJ are being kept in two different tanks. One that is kept at 60F and one that is kept at 65. Here is a vid i took today of the eggs. U can see one of the baby's nicely.

What are you going to do with them? Ive been looking for some for a couple of years now. Good luck with them

IF it's the species that I believe it is - then the water temps of 60-68F would be too warm for this species. And IF it's that species I believe it to be, then the water temps should be below 55F since they tend to usually be a fairly deep water species.

if not for the need for colder water, it'd be a really great shark for at home. stays very small even at full length, just a little over a foot.

Im still dying to see this species luminescent capabilities.

I don't think it's luminescent dude. It's a shark.

There are a number of deep water luminescent Sharks, Chain Catsharks are one of those species. How do you think a Lantern Shark got its name dude. lol

ME TOO! I've been around this species in captive settings for a couple years and got to see nothing other than swimming and eating. :nilly:
