looking to add more fish to my ac tank but limited on availibility of tangs in memphis

I've never kept Cha. brichardi, but I did keep a small group of Cha. sp. Ndobhoi. I started with a trio and ended up with a pair. The largest turned out to be a male and grew to about 4", although I've seen them at about 5". I kept them with a mix of Tanganyikans such as calvus, Nkambe, featherfins, etc. They did just fine playing with others. I imagine the Ndobhoi are very similiar to the brichardi in behavior and needs.

Chalinochromis brichardi is not nearly as aggressive as C. ndobnoi. They are quite pleasant to work with. I would say they are closer to Julies in temperament. I usually pair them off in a community setting and the put the pair in a 10 or 20 gal tank. They are cave spawners, so it is important to provide lots of cover. I usually remove the pair as soon as the fry are freeswimming and raise them up from there. Although they are good parents, when they are ready to spawn again the male will eat the fry. Sometimes in smaller tanks there may be more predation then in larger tanks.

They prefer to fight among each other more then with others, so this is another advantage to raising them up in a community setting.

They are awesome fish, I always to like to keep some around!

I kept princess of burundi brichardi and they were HIGHLY aggressive. They paired off and took over the tank, herding all other fish (even 7 inch venustus and eye biters) into a one foot corner of the tank where they launched attacks on them all day long...I had to give them their own tank. Once i did that they were a pleasure to keep...
