picked up three cubans yesterday they are doing good in a thirty high grow out my question is do you think that out of the three i will end up with at least one male and female when i picked them up they looked a little different
than they do in my tank the fish are about 1 in in length one had the black dorsal when i picked them up two had clear dorsals and light bodies my cameras dead right now but i will take pics tomorrow

3 is a good number for getting a male and female but 4 is better. I would have got more, you never know what might happen with how aggressive they are. First thing is first get them into a bigger to keep them from killing one another. I know you said its just a grow out but 30high is a bad footprint for cichlids, especially such aggressive ones.

You have an 87.5% chance of getting both sexes with three and a 93.75% chance of both sexes with 4. That's only 6.25% better with four vs. three.

Hopefully you'll get a pair, odds are just odds, they don't always work in your favor. ;)

hopefully you'll get a pair, chances are you will get a male and female out of the 3.

you gotta be pretty unlucky to get all one sex IMO.

no i picked them up from a lfs he said that he got them from florida the fish are smaller then my hrp fry but hopefuly with lots of water changes and good food they should grow good and soon i will put them in my 60 once sett up
