Chance of some spotted gar but?

Hi all, i am trying to sell a TSNxRT but as you will know its not easy, now i have found a chap with two 6inch spotted gar whi is willing to do a part excnhange for them with my cat, the gars are not big which is what i like, the thing is they will be going in a 6x2x2, i believe that small gars should not go into to a big a tank and move them as they grow, also the tnaks mate i have for the gars are 2 8 inch motoros, 2 6 inch severums and 3 silver dollars of 3 inch.

Just want to mkae sure it will be ok for the gars to go in the tank now with the tank size and mates.

I am building 500g (UK) 7x4x3 which they will all be going inmto in about 6 months, would this be to a big a tank for then aswell or should keep them in another tank of 4x3x1.5 which i have.

just want to mka esure so thanks to any helpers.
 
Also forgot to add, if they are a bit small for the tank, would it help to have plenty of floating plastic plants, cant do real as the severums will eat then in no time.

Also forgot to say that i will be getting a few arowana aswell, but tery will be the main priority in the tank along with the rays.
 
is it just really late here or is your post really jumbled up. haha anyways i believe i managed to get the gist of what you were saying.

anyways i will reapond issue by issue.

first things first: tank size.
you are right in saying that the gars should be addded to a smaller tank. however, i can sympatise with you as i am facing the same issue of having only one big tank available to me. what i did was to add dividers to the tank to kind of create a smaller enclosure for my smaller fishes till they are of a more appropriate size to join the "main" tank.

i would not recommend the severum and silver dollars for the standard cichlid & silvery fish reasons. imo the i would not suggest the gar-ray combo until the gar is bigger. there's a pic somewhere out there that is worth more than any amount of words i could say, but my net is not working too well right now so i'll find it for you tmr.

EDIT: ps- just read through your confusing initial post again so that i could figure out why i was so confused and got a headache when i read it at first and and all i can say is please would you mind using full stops or periods in future to save me some brain cells?:P:P
 
By eck Xander:eek:, i know what you mean, that was bad that post, i was rushing to get it posted is all i can say and didnt go back to edit like i normaly do, sorry for the headache LOL.


I take it the rays would possibly eat the gars? i was more bothered about the rays spooking the gars as the rays go up the tank sides a lot.

And as for the silver dollars, they are a good size but is it that the gars would still have a go at them?

I can always divide the tank then, thanks xander.
