I want to get my new 6" Rhom on prepared foods for obvious reasons. What are the chances of getting him on both prepared foods as well as feeders (convicts that I will breed myself)? Or, if I try this, will he just like the feeders too much and never touch the prepared food? What would be the best way for me to get him on both?

Anyone with experiece in feeding Ps, please chime in.

There is no real answer, all fish are different. My guess is that if you fed him raw fish filets or boiled chicken or even shrimp he would be accepting of it. The only real way to know is to try to feed him something other than feeders.

The trick is to make the staple of his diet prepared foods while only providing feeders a few times a month. If worse comes to worse starve him for a few days and then try to feed him some prepared foods instead of feeders, hope this info was somewhat helpful.

im not a big fan of feeding any fish live feeder..but everyone have different prefer. if you do want to feed your rhomb feeder give him once a month.

If you feed him to much feeder it will make him harder to accept others diet. Best way to feed piranha or any other kind of fish is change the diet variey different every week.

Here is what i do when i feed my piranha or fish.

This week i will feed them raw shrimp

next week with be fish fillet

following week will be silver side or smelt.

etc...keep your diet different and stable. I gurantee you your rhom will accept ALL the food you give him and without being picky eater.

that is just my methon of feeding piranha or others fish i own. Im sure others may disagreed with me and do it different.

The REAL answer or question to this is will your rhomb accept it? would it be healthy for him?

i feed my rbps random foods all the time. i used 2 have them on feeders as a staple diet but they take anything now

My goal is to grow a large, healthy Rhom. I will definitely emphasize a varied diet of mainly prepared foods. I was just afraid that if I fed feeders even as the minority of the diet, that the Rhom would not touch prepared foods.
