Cichlasoma facetum or is it or is it Australoheros facetus now?either way very pretty and personable fish.According to my handy but very old innes book, its the first cichlid domesticated for aquariums.Picked up a bag at a fall auction cause my wife liked them, now I like them too.
Those are very beuatiful fish, makes you wonder why they fell out of favor in the aquarium trade. As far as I know they don't get large- which puts off a lot of people not wanting big tanks taking up space and all that.
If I ever get my pond up I want to have some chanchito in there, they should be able to handle my winter...chanchito and Texas maybe. I think they do get pretty big, around 12" or so.
