I've seen several pics of both these species. Just wondering what the major differences are between them?

They look very similar, they are part of the Midas complex from lake Apoyo in Nicaragua. They grow some what larger and heavier than A. Citrinllus. I've also only seen them barred never orange. IMO one of the best looking amphilophus species there is.
Owning both I'd say the biggest differences I've noticed, are chanchos seem to be much more drab in coloration, thicker, meaner, slower growing, and while their heads are big the nuchal hump hasn't developed like the midas.

Sorry mate, I don't bother raising fry any more. Takes to much time and tank space. I'm concentrating on improving my own personal collection.
