Chanchos?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
honestly dude they are hyper-aggressive but if you get a group and PUT THEM IN A BIG ENOUGH COMMUNITY and grow them out IN A COMMUNITY they should be fine I wouldn't put them in with just themselves or there going to kill each other for sure

adding them to a BIG ENOUGH CA/SA CICHLID where they can SPREAD their aggression out and you won't have a problem raising them up

How would a small group of about 3-4 silver dollars work to act as dithers?

In 2007, a friend pass along 15 1" chanchos. I added them all to a 180 knowing it was not a long-term solution but hoping the aggression would spread so that a pair could form. Dithers of all sorts were chased down and killed by the group like a pack of wolves - they tolerated no other species in the tank. The dominant fish in the group were 4 females who killed the larger males. The remaining males that I saved were not adequate mates for these females. I split the remainder of my group off earlier this year and kept the three females. I was fortunate enough to connect up with Reagan and one of his large males arrived last weekend. Just a great fish and really represents what I love about this species - big, smart, and aggressive. What I hate is that I consistently get bitten by these fish that always draws blood - I never learn. Here is a pic: I have an incomplete divider setup (that opening cover has since been removed) and the pair seem to be getting along so far.

To bad his dad did not want him in the pond. Very nice F2. He is a going to be a killer. His dad is on female 18 now. Keep the females you will need them

Awesome fish! These sound like they might be on par with dovii as far as wanting (and being able) to kill everything!

Adult males are one bad fish, but still not close to a dovii. Reagan kept both and can verify this.

Maybe not in size, but attitude from what I have heard you better beleive it. One of the baddest and most agressive pound for pound cichlids is also one of the smallest being the Neet.
