When i was picking out the right jardini since my silver jumped out and killed itself...

I had the owner feed each one of the jardinis with a feeder, and a meal worm. *Making sure it ate meal worms since my silver didnt even touch it)

The one i picked stood out, because he was the fastest to get to the food, and would jump when you put your hands over the tank.

Now that i brought him home...hes not as agressive. He slowsly swims up and grabs a cricket or a meal worm. But if the meal worm sanked, he wouldnt even bother to chase it like he did at the LFS.

He wont even eat my 2" killie...or chase after the guppies i feed him.

He dose however, once in awhile would swim up to the killie and the killie would dart away, then he just gives up and swims some where else...

Is this common? I want my jardinis agressiveness back...:irked:

Or could it be that i am feeding him too much to where hes just lazy and sits back knowing food will come.
I only feed him 2 meal worms in the moring. Then when i get home from work, i throw 3-4 crickets in, then same routine the next day.

He's probably adjusting. Arowanas take weeks to get used to their tanks. Sometimes longer.

I have a black in my 300 who is just starting to come out of his shell. He has been in there for over a month.

yeah, give the babie some time. he will become agressive lateron, dont worry! my black is also still a bit uncertain with all those big fish under him. im giving him all the time he needs, sooner or later all will be good, just like with your jar.

another thing, he was more agressive during feeding at the lfs because there were other fish to compete with. now he's by himself and those other guys he was once competing with are no longer around. so he see's no rush in getting the food because noone else will eat it. give him about 2-4 weeks to adjust. if he still aint eatin then, jus wait

yeah my aro took literally months to adjust when i brought him home.
first 2 weeks he just sat at the bottom and didnt eat

Speaking of tank mates...he was by himself in like a 15gal.

And i been trying to find a fish for him to compeat agianst for food, was thinkin an albino red oscar...

Some said its possible, some said the arowana will kill it, some says the oscar will kill the aro...:nilly:

How big is your Jardini? and his tank?...

feeder or not (Custom).JPG

Hes only about 5-6inches. Hes in a 30gal atm while im on the hunt for a larger tank.

Right now, the best size tank i found for him is a 40Breeder. Nice and low, wide enough for him to turn, and long. Only plan on keeping him in the 40 for about a year or so untill i can get a larger tank.

If he were mine, I'd probably forget any tankmates...and totally secure the tops!

A 55g might be good for maybe 3 months maybe

I'd be saving as hard as I can to get at least a 150g. ASAP...
In a years time, he'll be too big for that even.

Look at about 1" per month growth...

btw,...happy tank hunting,
I'll see what I can find for ya...we're practically neighbors...
