Archer fish are supposed to have a black color above from their anal fins to their tail fin, a good quarter of their body.

My Archer fish on the other hand seems to change that color daily. When I wake up in the morning, the color in that area is a normal black, but by the evening it's a pale silver that matches the rest of it's body perfectly.

Is there any reason for this? It seems normally active and willingly eats. I've been feeding it mainly live crickets.

I don't know about Archers, but my CA/SAs all change color frequently. It is usually when they get chased by the breeding Texas Cichlids.

I realized something, my Archer seems to change colors around its tail based on if the lights are on or off. None of the other fish in the tank ever bother it, even my Severums leave it alone so I don't think it's that kind of stress.
