So after a few years of black background color and super red gravel i am trying something new.
So far i am very happy with it. It turned out better than i imagined.
I knew that the colors of my Polys would change to the less contrasty but no big deal. Actually the Congis blend in with a nice golden brown tone that is pretty cool.
My 3 Pollis i moved to my 125 gallon in order to reduce the bioload a bit in the big tank.

Why green and not a light blue or something

Good question.
I have a 125 Gallon with blue background which i also like. I just feel the green gives a natural look to it and i like the reds of the Devil cichlids with that green background.
I got the idea for it from seeing Guapote Mel’s big tanks with South American ciclids. He is a legend of cichlid keeping and a member of this forum.

If you "told" me you were doing a green background I would have thought yuck that's not gonna look good, but looking at the pic it actually looks nice. I think your subtle lighting is what makes the green work so nicely.

Thanks a lot! Yes it is a bit of a special color for a background and you don't want to have it go wrong and have to repaint the whole thing. i wanted a warm green so i found a piece of bambu that i loved the color of, then took it under the aquarium lights to see how it looks in the tank, then took the bambu to the paint store and told him how it had to look.
It turns out there i more yellow than green in it

You did a beautiful job.
Thanks a lot

I really like how it turned out!!! Looks great. The cichlids contrast well with that background color.
Thanks. Yes they do look good

That looks great-gives the water a natural feel to it.
Wish I'd have done the same. Is it painted?
Thanks. It is not the first time i painted it green. You just have to find the tone of color that you like if you go for it. and see how it looks under the aquarium lights. Yes it is painted from the outside

I love it!
Thanks man
