I was in the process of setting up a 72 bow front native tank. Filtration is a fluval 304 canister filled with coralife bioballs, pot scrubbies and the top tray is empty for now. There is some sort of tetra filter on there way too small for the tank but I set it up just for fun. I'm looking into getting 2 AquaClear 110s as well for extra filtration. Only stock is a few minnows that I used for a water test. My question is if I take the minnows out would I be all good to switch over to a lake tanganyika tank. I was thinking about adding crushed coral to the top media tray in the canister to help boost the ph. Also I put rinsed off gravel from Home Depot as the substrate for the tank. Is that going to effect the cichlids? The minnows are fine

If your tank already cycled then I really don't see any problem switching live stock.
I'm not sure about gravel you bought from Home Depot though cause some gravel would leak out harmful chemical when in aquarium other than that it's fine too.
