OK so first let me say this is not a good or bad thread on the FX5. I may be taking back many of my negitive comments on my FX5 from the past?
In reading some posts I ordered a material marketed from Marineland, very cheap like $4.00 a pad. It's a two ply blue/white material thinner than the earlier Fluval pads I tryed. It has made a huge differance in my mechnical WC. Before all I was using was Bio media in the trays in all three baskets with side foam. I've added one of these pads to the top of trays 1 and 3. Flow has remained good sofar? I have just read so many say the FX will clog so bad when you add any extra pads? I'm sure I will need to shortin the service intervals.
Next question, the 06 already has the aquaclear type sponges supplied with the filter but I was wondering if this thinner material might help WF? These have been nice little filters for me so far, in other words I have no complaints but just wondered if it would help?
